
Lecturer | Political Scientist | Public Policy Analyst
Dr. Gabriel Asante is a political scientist specializing in public policy analysis, with a strong academic and professional footprint across Ghana, Hungary, and China. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Political Science with distinction (Summa Cum Laude) from Corvinus University of Budapest, Hungary, and holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Political Science from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana, also with distinction.
Dr. Asante brings extensive experience from both the public and private sectors. He has served as Partnerships Manager at the Youth Employment Agency, where he facilitated job creation initiatives for Ghanaian youth, and later led the Research, Statistics, and Information Unit. At the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, he held the role of Senior Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation Officer, contributing to organizational efficiency and strategic planning. He has worked for leading market research institutions such as Kantar TNS and El-Parah Consult as field interviewer and supervisor. Additionally, he provides translation services for market research institutions, ensuring linguistic accuracy and cultural relevance by translating research instruments from English to Akan.
His research interests center on public policy, particularly educational policy in Sub-Saharan Africa. He actively contributes to public discourse through editorials and media engagements across television, radio, print, and social platforms. His current research explores language acquisition, cultural exchange, and Sino-Ghana trade and diplomatic relations. Dr. Asante has presented his work at several prestigious international conferences, including:
• The Conference on Policy Process Research, University of Colorado, Denver
• The Social Policy in Africa Conference, organized by the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) and the University of South Africa
• The International Conference on Public Policy, hosted by the International Public Policy Association and Toronto Metropolitan University, Canada
His scholarly publications appear in leading Q1 and Q2 journals such asPolicy Studies, Educational Review, Policy Futures in Education, SAGE Open, and Cogent Social Sciences. He also contributes to the academic community as a peer reviewer for several journals and has supervised multiple master’s theses, fostering mentorship and academic growth.
In academia, Dr. Asante has taught graduate-level courses including Academic Writing, Comparative Administrative Law, and Public Policy for Human Development. He currently lectures at the School of Foreign Studies and Trade at Hubei University of Automotive Technology, Shiyan, China.
Beyond academia, Dr. Asante is committed to public service. He was elected Assembly Member for the New Behenase Electoral Area in the Bosomtwe District of Ghana’s Ashanti Region (2015–2019), where he played a pivotal role in local governance. He also served as President of the Ghana Students Association in Hungary (2021–2022). During this period, he led a humanitarian effort during the onset of the Russo-Ukraine War. Under his leadership, the association provided relief to over 1,400 Africans fleeing conflict zones, an initiative that earned him recognition from Ohio University, Athens, USA, where he was honored as the 2023 African Hero—an award celebrating individuals advancing the development of Africa and its diaspora.
